Driver Charged in Deadly Hit and Run Accident on Buckner Boulevard

A driver in Dallas has been arrested following a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The suspect, 30-year-old Derrick Mason, is accused of striking 26-year-old Javari Stripling on Buckner Boulevard.

The tragic event occurred around 11 p.m. on Thursday near Rothington Road. Witnesses reported that Stripling attempted to cross the busy road when he was hit by Mason’s vehicle, a Ford Crown Victoria, which failed to stop at the scene.

Investigators utilized surveillance footage from nearby cameras to identify the suspect’s car and subsequently traced it back to Mason. Upon locating him, Mason admitted to police that he had tried to avoid hitting Stripling but was unable to stop in time. He expressed that panic prompted him to flee the scene.

Mason is currently facing a charge of collision involving death, classified as a second-degree felony. The case is under the jurisdiction of the Dallas Police Department, which provided the details surrounding the incident.
