A significant warmup is on the horizon for North Texas this week, with temperatures expected to soar into the low 90s, accompanied by the potential for isolated severe weather. While the majority of the Metroplex is likely to remain dry, the National Weather Service has issued warnings that storms could develop from Thursday through Saturday, with the possibility of large hail and damaging winds.
On Thursday, the weather will be notably warm and windy, with morning temperatures approaching 80 degrees. Isolated storms may form in the afternoon, primarily in areas northwest of the Metroplex, where any developing storms could bring severe conditions.
As the weekend approaches, there will be a slight return of storm chances on Friday, mainly affecting the eastern and northeastern areas. The likelihood of storms is expected to increase on Saturday, although the chances remain at 20% or less. Any storms that do form on Saturday evening could also become severe.
Despite the rain potential, the National Weather Service forecasts unseasonably warm highs in the upper 80s and low 90s through Sunday. The active weather pattern is set to continue into the following week, with temperatures consistently reaching the low 90s early in the week.
