Deputies in Ellis County Shoot and Kill Suicidal Man in Red Oak Incident

Ellis County sheriff’s deputies shot and killed a man who was reported to be suicidal during an incident on May 6 in Red Oak, Texas. The man, identified as 49-year-old Michael Bradley Davis, had already sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound prior to the deputies’ arrival.

The shooting occurred in the 100 block of Carroll Lane, located south of Dallas. According to a recently released report by the Texas Department of Public Safety, deputies were called to the residence to assist Davis, who was in crisis.

As deputies attempted to provide aid, Davis allegedly aimed a handgun at them, prompting one deputy to discharge his weapon. Davis was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Currently, the identity of the deputy involved in the shooting has not been disclosed, and officials have yet to release any body camera footage from the incident. Authorities have stated that the investigation is ongoing.
