A cast member at Walt Disney World is currently in recovery following an incident during a live performance, where a prop boulder rolled off its track and struck an employee. This information was confirmed by a Disney spokesperson.
“We are dedicated to supporting our cast member during their recovery,” the spokesperson stated. “Safety is paramount in our operations, and we will be modifying that aspect of the show while our safety team conducts a thorough review of the incident.”
Disney refers to its employees as cast members, emphasizing the theatrical experience of the theme park.
The incident occurred during the “Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular,” a live show featuring thrilling stunts and explosive special effects from the popular film franchise. One of the notable elements of the performance includes a large prop boulder.
Although the company did not specifically reference the boulder in their statement, videos circulating on social media platforms showed the prop unexpectedly rolling off the elevated stage mid-performance and heading toward an audience gathered at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
The initial footage was shared on TikTok and later on Reddit, where it captured the moment a cast member stepped forward in an apparent attempt to intercept the boulder before it reached the audience. The large prop ultimately struck the staff member, causing them to fall to the ground.
The Disney spokesperson confirmed that “a prop moved off its track,” resulting in an injury to a performer. In the shared video, another cast member was seen quickly responding to stop the boulder and then rushing to assist their colleague.
Despite the incident, the stunt show was scheduled to resume on Wednesday, as indicated on Disney’s official website.
