A 15-month-old emu named Temu has made a daring escape from his home in Lancaster, Texas, and was last spotted near Parkerville Road and Interstate 35. The search for the fully grown bird has prompted both local authorities and animal rescue groups to assist in efforts to bring him back safely.
Temu’s owner, Aleta Cronce, has been actively searching the surrounding fields and has reached out to various organizations for support. Despite her best efforts, the emu remains unaccounted for, raising concerns for his safety.
“We still haven’t located him. I just got home from walking the fields and woods again. I’m just praying he’s okay,” Cronce expressed. She emphasized her distress, noting that Temu was raised by hand alongside another female emu, who is now visibly upset about his absence.
The incident follows a similar occurrence earlier this week when a giraffe went missing in Central Texas, highlighting the challenges of keeping exotic pets safe and secure.
