A former teacher from Crowley Independent School District has been taken into custody, facing accusations of engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a student.
Ricardo Ortiz, aged 62, was arrested on February 5 by police in Fort Worth. Following the emergence of the allegations, Crowley ISD swiftly acted to remove him from any interaction with students and has confirmed that he is no longer employed by the district.
Ortiz previously worked as an architecture instructor at the Bill R. Johnson Career and Technical Education Center. He is currently facing a total of five charges, which include four counts related to an improper relationship with a student and one count of sexual assault. His bond has been set at $125,000.
Details regarding the identity of the student involved in the alleged relationship have not been disclosed.
Crowley ISD has issued a statement emphasizing its commitment to providing a safe educational environment for all students. The district has directed any further inquiries to the Fort Worth Police Department.
