The Online Film Critics Society has officially unveiled its nominations for the upcoming awards, showcasing a diverse range of films from 2025. This marks my inaugural experience as a voter for this prestigious organization, which deviates from the traditional approach of announcing winners outright. Instead, members are encouraged to participate in a second round of voting to select the best among the nominees.
One standout film this year is Ryan Coogler’s “Sinners,” which garnered an impressive 16 nominations, the highest of any film this season. This achievement surpasses the 13 nods received by “One Battle After Another.” While Paul Thomas Anderson’s film has consistently been a frontrunner throughout this awards season, Coogler’s recognition may be seen as a surprising twist. It’s worth noting that I previously ranked “Sinners” highly on my own top ten list.
In two weeks, the winners will be announced, and I encourage you to review the nominees in the meantime. Share your thoughts on which films or performances deserve recognition and any potential snubs that you feel should be addressed.
