Fort Worth Man Allegedly Shoots 'Pedophile' in Groin to Safeguard Nieces

A Fort Worth man is currently in police custody following allegations that he shot another man in the groin. The man’s family asserts that he acted in defense of his underage nieces from an individual purportedly attempting to solicit them for sexual activities.

Markus Renfro, aged 33, is facing charges related to the incident. His relatives are voicing their belief that his actions were justified and that he should not be incarcerated.

Dontavius Williams, Renfro’s brother-in-law, recounted unsettling information he received. “My little cousin told me that the dude said, ‘Oh, come back and smoke some meth with me,’ you know, ‘have some drugs,’” Williams remarked. He added that this was not an isolated occurrence.

According to the Fort Worth police, officers had previously been dispatched to the 3700 block of Century Place on Friday morning due to reports of a man, possibly under the influence, soliciting children for sex. “We had already heard that a certain dude had been messing with other little kids around here,” Williams noted.

The situation escalated when Renfro intervened. His wife, Jamie Ramirez Renfro, described the confrontation: “They exchanged some words. When Markus was walking away, he just ran up on him, like he was trying to approach him, like to hurt him in some way.” As police arrived, they reported hearing a gunshot.

“And then he said something to Markus, and then he turned around, and Markus shot,” Jamie recounted. Authorities later located a man matching the suspect’s description with a gunshot wound to the groin, who was subsequently transported to the hospital and is expected to survive. Renfro was arrested at the scene.

While police have yet to verify the family’s account, they remain adamant about the necessity of Renfro’s actions. Jamie expressed strong feelings about the incident, stating, “Don’t think he should have been arrested, because if a man’s going to approach a minor for soliciting for sex, to me, that’s a pedophile.” The family firmly believes that the children were in imminent danger and that Renfro’s response was warranted.

Jamie, who is currently 24 weeks pregnant, shared that the incident resonates deeply with her own past experiences. “Since I’ve been through a similar situation as well when I was younger, so I wish somebody would have done for me the way he did,” she said.

Authorities are continuing their investigation to ascertain the full details of the incident. Renfro is being held at the Tarrant County Jail, with no bond set at the time of this report.
