Severe Storms Trigger Ground Stop at Bush Airport

A ground stop at Bush Airport has concluded earlier than expected as thunderstorms passed through the Houston area on Saturday.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) had initially indicated that the ground stop would remain in place until 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. However, the alert was lifted prior to the stated time, allowing flights to resume.

The weather in Houston continues to be influenced by a slow-moving cold front, which poses the risk of severe storms on Saturday evening and into the night. The primary concerns include strong wind gusts exceeding 60 mph that may cause damage, along with heavy rainfall that could result in localized street flooding.

The potential for flooding is expected to last from overnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Some light showers may occur on Easter Sunday morning, with a higher likelihood of scattered showers developing in the afternoon, particularly south of Interstate 10.
