In a tragic incident in Arlington, Texas, a 21-year-old man has been charged with murder following the fatal shooting of his grandmother during an argument over his allowance. Rontrell Jackson faces one count of murder in connection with the event.
Authorities were called to an apartment complex on Carriage House Circle at approximately 4:40 p.m. on Friday after a family member discovered a 68-year-old woman unresponsive on her patio. Upon arrival, officers found that she had suffered a gunshot wound and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators reported that the dispute between Jackson and his grandmother escalated into a “heated argument” that resulted in him losing access to his allowance money. Jackson later confessed to shooting her inside the apartment that morning and subsequently dragging her body to the patio.
Jackson is currently in custody at the Arlington City Jail. Police have also recovered a firearm believed to be the weapon used in the shooting from within the apartment.
As of now, the identity of the victim has not been disclosed.
