Harker Heights Police Launch Investigation into Deadly Shooting Incident

A man succumbed to his injuries at a hospital on Sunday morning after being brought to a Harker Heights emergency room with serious gunshot wounds. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which appears to have occurred in the 700 block of Edwards Drive, and is believed to be an isolated event.

Officers from the Harker Heights Police Department were dispatched to Seton Medical Center at 3:28 a.m. following reports of a gunshot victim arriving at the facility via private vehicle. Given the critical nature of the man’s injuries, he was subsequently transferred to Baylor Scott & White Hospital for advanced medical care.

Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the victim was pronounced dead at 8:57 a.m. by Justice of the Peace Clifford Coleman. At this time, authorities have withheld the man’s identity pending notification of his family.

Police Chief Sonja V. Clay stated that investigators believe the shooting does not pose an ongoing threat to the community, as it is considered an isolated incident. The Harker Heights Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively pursuing the case.
