An “all clear” has been issued for residents of Texas City following a refinery fire that led to a temporary shelter-in-place order on Sunday morning.
The fire occurred at the Marathon Refinery, located near Highway 146 and 5th Avenue South. In response to the incident, officials implemented a shelter-in-place for certain areas near the refinery due to smoke concerns.
However, authorities announced just before 11:30 AM that the shelter-in-place had been lifted. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and police indicated that no harmful chemicals were detected in the area as of approximately 10:30 AM.
Emergency responders will continue to monitor air quality as a precautionary measure, ensuring the safety of local residents. Further details regarding the fire and its causes have not yet been released.
