A teenager is in critical condition following a shooting incident that took place on I-45 in north Houston on Sunday night. Authorities confirmed that the incident occurred around 11:40 p.m. when gunfire erupted while the teen was a passenger in a pickup truck.
According to police reports, the shooting happened in the southbound lanes of I-45 near Airtex Drive. At least three individuals were in the pickup truck when an unidentified assailant pulled alongside and opened fire.
The vehicle managed to stop near the intersection of Glenborough Drive and Northborough Drive, just off the interstate, where police officers on patrol noticed the truck that had been hit by bullets. Upon investigation, they discovered that the 19-year-old male passenger had sustained injuries.
The injured teen was promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where he was reported to be in critical condition. As of now, no further details have been released regarding the identities of those involved in the shooting, nor is there any description of the vehicle from which the shots were fired.
The situation remains under investigation as authorities seek to gather more information about the incident.
