An inmate at the United States Penitentiary in Beaumont has died following a violent altercation that occurred on Wednesday. The deceased, identified as 53-year-old Larnie Brewer, was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital.
Officials reported that around 1 p.m., staff members were alerted to a fight involving multiple inmates. Upon their arrival, they worked to contain the situation and initiated life-saving measures for those in need. Despite their efforts, Brewer succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital.
Larnie Brewer had been incarcerated since April 9, 2025, serving a 68-month sentence for bank robbery handed down by the Northern District of Illinois. In addition to Brewer, a second inmate sustained minor injuries and received treatment at the penitentiary.
The FBI has been notified regarding the incident, which resulted in no injuries to any staff members or other inmates. However, details surrounding the cause of the fight and the total number of inmates involved remain unclear.
