Investigators are diligently working to uncover the cause of a house explosion that occurred on Thursday night in Lake Dallas. The incident, which took place at approximately 7:05 p.m. on March 19, resulted in a significant fire that required assistance from multiple emergency services.
Responding to reports of a fire in the 600 block of Moseley Street, the Lake Cities Fire Department and Lake Dallas Police Department arrived at the scene to find that an explosion within the home had led to a blaze, ultimately causing the structure to collapse. This location is situated just east of Lake Dallas Middle School.
Footage captured by SKY 4 on Friday morning illustrated the extensive damage left in the wake of the explosion. Additional support was provided by police departments from Lewisville, Corinth, and Highland Village, while technicians from Atmos Energy were also present to assist during the emergency response.
At least one individual was airlifted to a hospital following the explosion, although details regarding their condition remain uncertain. The number of occupants in the house at the time of the explosion is also not yet known.
In a nearby fishing spot, a local resident, Jason Hughes, reported hearing the explosion. “It was the biggest explosion I’ve heard ever,” he stated. “It was pretty much gone,” referring to the house that once stood there.
As inquiries continue, officials are focused on determining the specific cause of the explosion. Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
