A man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly administering an abortion drug to a woman without her consent. Jon Rueben Gabriel Demeter, a 25-year-old resident of Spring, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, classified as family violence. Officials have indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation progresses and evidence is processed.
The case came to light when authorities responded to a hospital in The Woodlands, where they encountered a patient experiencing a miscarriage under suspicious circumstances. The victim disclosed her belief that the father of her child had secretly given her medication to terminate her pregnancy without her knowledge.
Tragically, the child, whom the mother named Presley Mae, was stillborn at the hospital. Investigators uncovered that Demeter had previously pressured the mother to have an abortion, even offering financial assistance for her to travel out of state for the procedure. Despite his efforts, the mother consistently rejected his proposals, expressing her desire to carry the pregnancy to term.
Further inquiries revealed that Demeter had procured abortion medication and administered it covertly to the mother with the intent of terminating the pregnancy. He was arrested on Monday and is currently being held in the Montgomery County Jail without bond.
In response to the incident, Sheriff Wesley Doolittle expressed gratitude for the dedication of the law enforcement personnel involved in the case. He extended thoughts and prayers to the grieving mother and her family as they cope with the loss of Presley Mae.
