A Texas father is desperately seeking to reunite with his young daughter, who he claims was taken to Germany by her mother in defiance of a court order granting him sole custody. Thomas Angel has been engaged in a protracted battle to bring his daughter, Polly, back home.
According to Angel, the last time he saw Polly, who is now four years old, was during a teleconference from Germany on December 19, 2025. He alleges that his ex-wife took their daughter overseas shortly after the custody ruling by a Walker County court. Despite the U.S. State Department’s role in addressing international child abduction cases, Angel reports that his numerous attempts to secure his daughter’s return have made little headway. He has filed a complaint with the Department’s Office of Inspector General, which is currently under review.
In his quest for assistance, Angel has reached out to U.S. Representative Pete Sessions and Senator Ted Cruz, but he has yet to receive any response. Expressing his frustration, he stated, “I’ve followed the letter of the law, and nothing is being done.” His overwhelming fear is that his daughter may never return and could be forgotten.
Angel’s experience highlights the emotional turmoil faced by parents in similar situations, as he continues to navigate the complexities of international custody disputes while hoping for a resolution that will bring his daughter back to the United States.
