Tragic Ends: Driver Dies After Police Chase and Crash on I 35 in Fort Worth

A driver was found dead following a police pursuit that ended in a crash off Tarver Road in Fort Worth early Sunday morning. The incident began on Interstate 35 when a vehicle, operating without headlights, collided with two other cars before exiting the highway, where officers lost track of it.

The chase commenced around 2:34 a.m. when officers from the Central Division spotted the suspect’s vehicle near Rosedale Street. After the initial collision, the driver failed to stop, prompting police to pursue the vehicle southbound on the interstate. The chase continued despite the suspect striking a second vehicle.

The pursuit ultimately concluded when the driver exited I-35 near Tarver Road. Police briefly lost sight of the vehicle while they searched the surrounding area.

Subsequently, the crashed vehicle was discovered off the roadway in the 1500 block of Tarver Road. Inside, officers found two adult men; the passenger managed to exit the vehicle with what appeared to be minor injuries. Unfortunately, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital, but authorities reported that no officers or civilians sustained injuries during the incident.

The Fort Worth Police Department’s Traffic Investigations Unit and Major Case Unit are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the chase and crash. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will assist in identifying the driver and determining the official cause and manner of death.

Authorities have indicated that more information will be released as it becomes available.
