Ultimate Guide to Crafting Cocktails: MIXologist Edition #2

Ultimate Guide to Crafting Cocktails: MIXologist Edition #2

Puscifer is set to bring a unique twist to Valentine’s week, collaborating with Panther City Vinyl and Tricks of the Trade for a themed event at The Magnolia on Thursday, February 12. This special gathering, titled “Into the Dark,” will celebrate the Panther City MIXologist Club #2, a creative fusion of cocktails and vinyl that showcases the essence of goth culture alongside an approachable cocktail lounge atmosphere.

The MIXologist Club #2 features an enticing pairing of Puscifer’s latest double-album, “Normal Isn’t,” with a cocktail kit designed to create two servings of the Blood & Honey cocktail. Inside the kit, attendees will find La Gritona Reposado tequila, King Floyd’s Black Lava Salt, Bitter Queen Thai Spice Bitters, Amargo Chuncho Bitters, fresh blood oranges, and a can of Puscifer Sparkling Mead. This collaboration follows the successful launch of the first MIXologist Club kit last June, which paired the Vandoliers’ album “Life Behind Bars” with a bourbon-based cocktail.

Fronted by Maynard James Keenan, Puscifer is known for its eclectic sound and artistic vision, which aligns well with the event’s goth theme. Keenan, who also leads the bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, has made a name for himself in the wine industry through his winery, Caduceus Cellars, in Jerome, Arizona. His passion for winemaking has influenced his music career, as he schedules tours around the winery’s production phases.

In discussing “Normal Isn’t,” Keenan emphasized a return to earlier musical influences, merging elements of goth and punk. This artistic direction is expected to resonate throughout the four sides of the album, making it a fitting soundtrack for the evening. The pairing of a fizzy tequila cocktail with the album’s industrial rock sound promises to create a memorable experience for attendees, particularly those who enjoy embracing the aesthetic of a cyberpunk vampire.

Guests at “Into the Dark” can look forward to a range of activities, including a contest for the best goth outfits, a photo booth, tastings of Caduceus vintages, and a pop-up market from Panther City Vinyl. Vinyl DJ sets will also feature performances by Al G and Realm of the Oscure. For those interested in the Panther City MIXologist Club #2 kit, it can be purchased ahead of the event, which includes admission to the party for $114. Alternatively, entry to the event is available for $10.

The festivities kick off at 7 PM, beginning with a spin of “Normal Isn’t,” followed by a vibrant vinyl dance party. For those who may have missed out on traditional Valentine’s Day dinner reservations, “Into the Dark” presents a fun and unconventional alternative. Rather than settling for an overpriced meal in a crowded restaurant, couples can enjoy a lively night of music and camaraderie. Whether motivated by romance, the allure of heavy eyeliner, or the charm of an intriguing rock star, attendees are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the event at The Magnolia on February 12.
