AUSTIN, Texas – As SXSW 2026 approaches, attendees can look forward to a vibrant lineup of community events and concerts, many of which are free and open to the public. This year’s festival features performances from renowned artists such as Lola Young, Calvin Harris, Christina Aguilera, and The Lumineers.
For those eager to experience the music scene without a badge, here’s a selection of events to consider:
Timeline of Events
Community Concerts at Lady Bird Lake
Kicking off on Sunday, March 15, the concert series will feature Tune-Yards, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Auditorium Shores. This event is free and open to all.
The Lumineers at Moody Amphitheater
On Monday, March 16, The Lumineers will take the stage at Waterloo Park, presented by Rivian to celebrate the launch of the R2. This family-friendly concert is also free, but an RSVP is required for entry. Interested attendees can secure their spot online.
Congress Avenue Block Party
Running from Thursday, March 12 to Wednesday, March 18, this block party offers a gathering space for SXSW attendees, providing drinks, food, and sponsor giveaways. While it caters to badge holders, it remains open to the general public.
Additionally, Orville Peck will perform a free show on March 14 at 7 p.m. (CT), also sponsored by Rivian.
EQ Austin Presents Austin Sounds Showcase
From March 12 to March 18, this showcase will feature seven nights of performances exclusively by Austin artists, presented by EQ Austin in collaboration with KUTX and Austin Arts Culture Music & Entertainment (AACME).
Global Stage at Downright
This venue will spotlight international performers each night from March 12 to March 18, with events running until midnight, courtesy of All The Vibes and Tokyo Calling.
Radio Day Stage at Downright
Set to take place from March 13 to March 18, this stage will host live performances from various radio stations, broadcasting from noon to 8:00 p.m.
Flatstock
From March 13 to March 15, attendees can explore iconic concert posters and pop-culture art at Flatstock, which will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
SXSW Expo: International Innovations
Scheduled for Saturday, March 14, this expo will feature hundreds of exhibitors showcasing innovations across technology, design, social good, and entertainment from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
SXSW Expo: Emerging Tech
On Wednesday, March 18, this segment of the expo will focus on groundbreaking technology businesses, open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

From March 13 to March 15, Moody Amphitheater will host three nights of performances headlined by Don Toliver, Junior H, and Mau P. Tickets can be purchased online.

This annual showcase will take place at ACL Live from March 12 to March 14, featuring artists such as Lola Young, Fuerza Regida, and BigXThaPlug. Tickets are available for purchase.
Sips & Sounds Music Festival
On March 13 and 14, Auditorium Shores will be the site of this two-day festival featuring performances from Christina Aguilera, Calvin Harris, and Foster The People. Tickets can be obtained through the festival’s website.
The Dropout Improv Show
On Tuesday, March 17 at 7:00 p.m., this popular comedy platform will present a live performance at ACL Live at The Moody Theater. Tickets can be purchased online.
