Vandegrift High School Dance Team Set to Dazzle in London's New Year's Day Parade

The Legacies dance team from Vandegrift High School is set to showcase their talents in London’s iconic New Year’s Day Parade. This marks a significant milestone as they are the first high school group from Texas to receive such an invitation.

Assistant director Alexa Olson expressed the team’s excitement, noting, “We are truly honored to provide our girls with this once-in-a-lifetime experience.” The invitation came with a special touch: a beautifully crafted plate from Buckingham Palace, delivered by the lord mayor, symbolizing their appreciation for the team’s acceptance.

As the team’s football season comes to a close, they are now gearing up for the upcoming competition season. Senior member Victoria Kennedy highlighted their preparation, stating, “Throughout the year, we focus on enhancing our skills and team culture, which has helped us in mastering our routines for the London performance.”

Kara Yuan, the team colonel, shared her enthusiasm for the trip, saying, “Traveling to London and experiencing the city with my teammates is incredibly exciting.”

The Legacies are grateful for the support they have received from their community and Leander Independent School District, eager to represent Vandegrift and Austin in London. “We appreciate the community’s backing and cannot wait to showcase our school spirit abroad,” Olson added.

Supporters can tune in to the live stream of the parade to cheer for the Legacies from home.
