Felix the Cat took a well-deserved rest beneath a tree after a dramatic rescue on Christmas Eve. His adventure began when he went missing just days before the holiday, leading to an unexpected series of events that involved a selfless neighbor and the clever use of an AirTag.
Felix’s owners, Alex and Kayla, were distraught when their feline friend failed to return home. “When we lost him, it felt like a part of me was missing,” Kayla shared. The couple searched tirelessly through every possible hiding spot for three long days, but Felix was nowhere to be found.
That was until Alex noticed something unusual. Felix, who was wearing an AirTag on his collar, appeared to be located inside their neighbor’s house, but the device had not moved for days. “On Wednesday morning, after dreaming we found him, I realized I had to take action,” Alex recounted, detailing how he climbed onto the neighbor’s roof in a desperate attempt to locate Felix.
With no one at home, Alex began to pray for a Christmas miracle. “For the first time in three days, I heard his voice, confirming he was stuck in the chimney,” he recalled. However, the next challenge arose: their neighbors were away on vacation in Florida.
The situation escalated when the fire department could not assist because Alex and Kayla were not the homeowners. They had to reach out to their neighbor, asking permission to break into their house to save Felix. “By the grace of God, he agreed to let us cut into his chimney,” Alex said, expressing gratitude for the neighbor’s kindness.
With that green light, firefighters sprang into action, using a sledgehammer to create an opening. Finally, they were able to free Felix. “It truly was a Christmas Eve miracle,” Alex said, reflecting on the emotional ordeal. Felix emerged from the chimney unharmed—just a bit thirsty and exhausted.
Now safe at home, Felix has chosen to stay close to his family, often found resting under the Christmas tree. “He’s a little shaken up, but extremely resilient,” Alex noted, sharing Felix’s current state of mind.
In celebration of their beloved cat’s return, Alex and Kayla have launched a GoFundMe campaign aimed at covering the costs of the damage caused during the rescue efforts. With Felix now safe and sound, the family can finally enjoy a joyful Christmas Day together.
