Sweeny Fire and Rescue has announced that its current chief, Tim Webb, is taking a leave of absence. This decision follows the arrest of his son, Timothy “Timmy” Webb, who previously held the position of fire chief.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the fire department confirmed that Tim Webb has been “removed from his position as Fire Chief and will be taking a leave of absence.” They indicated that further details would be provided when available.
The specifics surrounding the situation are still unfolding, as the department has not disclosed who will serve as the interim chief during this period.
The circumstances leading to Tim Webb’s leave stem from the arrest of his son, Timmy Webb. Authorities reported that Timmy was taken into custody in late January on multiple felony charges related to alleged sexual crimes involving at least five children. These incidents are said to have occurred over a two-year span, from August 2023 to August 2025.
According to Sweeny Police Chief Brad Caudle, the investigation was prompted by concerns raised by family members of a young victim about inappropriate interactions involving Webb. Following this report, a thorough investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Child Advocacy Center, leading to the charges against Timmy Webb.
Chief Caudle noted that the victims, aged between nine and 15, were closely connected to the Webb family, including family friends. The nature of these allegations has profoundly affected the community’s trust in their first responders, with many residents expressing shock and concern over the situation.
