HOUSTON – After a weekend marked by significant rainfall, the weather in Houston is beginning to clear. Saturday’s downpours brought heavy flooding to the area, causing road closures and disruptions.
The storms that rolled through Southeast Texas on Saturday afternoon led to substantial rainfall, which overwhelmed drainage systems in some areas. This resulted in the temporary shutdown of roads, including parts of I-10. As a precaution, officials made the decision to cancel the Houston Pride Parade that was scheduled for Saturday evening, opting to postpone it to a later date.
Looking ahead to Sunday, while there is still a chance of rain, it is expected to be less severe than the previous day. The unsettled weather pattern will continue, but as warmer air moves in, storm coverage is predicted to diminish. A few isolated showers may occur, but there should be more dry periods, allowing temperatures to approach the 90-degree mark.
As we head into the upcoming week, summer heat will return to Houston, coinciding with the lead-up to World Cup events in the area. High temperatures are forecasted to reach the low 90s, with humid afternoons and warm mornings, while the likelihood of storms will remain isolated.
