Houston Weekend Weather: Enjoy a Refreshing Cooldown!

Houston is experiencing an unusual weather pattern characterized by warm afternoons that began in mid-December, with southwest winds driving temperatures into the low to mid-80s.

On Friday, many weather stations across southeast Texas recorded unprecedented high temperatures for the date, including the official site for the City of Houston, which surpassed the previous record of 81 degrees set in 1965.

This warm spell aligns with the anticipated La Niña winter pattern, which typically brings drier and slightly warmer conditions.

A weak cold front is expected to move through over the weekend, slightly reducing the high temperatures and bringing afternoon readings back into the 70s. Morning lows will also be cooler, particularly early Sunday, but the overall weather will remain dry and comfortable.

Sunny conditions are forecasted for most of Saturday and Sunday, making it an excellent opportunity for outdoor activities, despite the minor cooldown.

Looking ahead to next week, the weather pattern is predicted to remain mild and pleasant, with daytime temperatures generally hovering in the upper 70s and low 80s. Rain chances will be minimal until later in the week.

Nighttime temperatures are expected to remain mild as well, particularly in the middle of the week, with lows in the 60s and the possibility of patchy fog.

Attention should be paid to the weather developments for late next week, as there is potential for storms between Thursday and Saturday.
