A man’s death in east Austin is currently being investigated as the city’s 16th homicide of the year, according to local law enforcement.
Authorities responded to the scene in the 4700 block of Loyola Lane around 5 p.m. on Sunday following reports of a possible shooting or stabbing. Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of a man in his 40s.
Austin police Officer Aaron Townsend confirmed that detectives have begun collecting evidence and reviewing surveillance footage from the area as part of the investigation.
At this time, the identity of the deceased has not been made public.
