In a significant development, a Liberty County inmate has been apprehended in Mukilteo, Washington, nearly three weeks after he escaped from a hospital in Kingwood, Texas. Authorities have confirmed the arrest of Yorlan Rafael Reyes.
According to the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office, Reyes was taken into custody on Wednesday. He had reportedly fled from HCA Houston Healthcare in Kingwood in mid-July, where he was initially being held on charges of Unlawful Disclosure or Promotion of Intimate Visual Material.
Following his escape, it is believed that Reyes traveled to Cleveland, Texas, where he stayed with acquaintances for a period before making his way to Seattle, Washington. During his time on the run, authorities discovered that Reyes was in possession of a cellphone, leading them to provide his contact information to the U.S. Marshals Service.
The marshals successfully located and arrested Reyes in Mukilteo. Notably, while in Washington, he allegedly sent threatening messages to women in Texas, raising serious concerns about his actions during the time he was evading capture.
Reyes is expected to face charges related to his escape, along with potential additional charges stemming from his conduct while on the run.
Currently, authorities have not disclosed any details regarding individuals who may have assisted Reyes during his flight from justice. Furthermore, information pertaining to his initial charges remains limited.
