An elementary school in Rockwall was placed on lockdown Wednesday morning following reports of gunfire in the vicinity. Authorities responded to the area near Ridge Road West around 9:30 a.m. and quickly initiated a secure status for the nearby school as a precautionary measure.
Upon investigation, the Rockwall Police Department determined that the shots were fired by a resident on their property, who was targeting squirrels. Once the source of the gunfire was identified, officials promptly lifted the lockdown.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported as a result of the incident, and the situation was resolved without further complications.
