Arlington police have apprehended a second suspect linked to the 2025 shooting that resulted in the tragic death of a pregnant woman and her unborn child. Corey Daniels, 26, faces capital murder charges in connection with the death of 29-year-old Bre’Asia Johnson. He has been booked at the Tarrant County Jail.
Authorities revealed that the vehicle involved in the shooting was registered to Daniels, who is believed to have been driving at the time of the incident. He was taken into custody by the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force on Wednesday. After his arrest, Daniels chose not to cooperate with detectives.
Initial Arrest Made
In December, police arrested 29-year-old Malik Miner, identified as the primary shooter in the case. Miner has been charged with capital murder, three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and one count of deadly conduct. He is currently held at the Tarrant County Jail.
Details of the Shooting
The shooting occurred on November 12, 2025, at approximately 7:41 p.m. A 28-year-old man called 911 to report that he and his girlfriend had been shot while driving westbound on I-20 near Bowman Springs Road. They pulled into a parking lot on Little Road, where emergency responders found the victims.
Bre’Asia Johnson was discovered unresponsive in the passenger seat with a gunshot wound and was later pronounced dead at a hospital. It was subsequently confirmed that she was pregnant. The driver sustained serious injuries but has since been released from the hospital. Two children in the backseat were taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons but suffered no serious injuries. Additionally, another vehicle, which had no connection to the incident, was also struck by gunfire.
Investigation Findings
Detectives have determined that the shooting was a targeted attack rather than an incident of road rage. Investigations revealed that Miner had previously been in a romantic relationship with Johnson and was involved in a dispute with her current boyfriend. Cell phone location records obtained during a search of Miner’s residence were pivotal, placing him at the scene of the crime and indicating that he had been following the victims’ car prior to the shooting.
Similar to Daniels, Miner also opted not to provide information to investigators after his arrest.
