A woman has been fatally shot in the Kashmere Gardens area of Houston, leading to the detention of a male suspect, according to officials. The incident took place near the intersection of Lavender Street and Pardee Street, where the victim was subsequently transported to a hospital but unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
As authorities investigated the scene, a man approached the officers and confessed to shooting the victim. Residents of the nearby apartment complex reported that the victim and the shooter had a history of frequent arguments.
During the confrontation that led to the shooting, the suspect claimed that the woman struck him with a stick or a broomstick, prompting him to shoot her in self-defense. Police have indicated that there may be surveillance footage of the incident and are in the process of interviewing both the suspect and witnesses.
Once the investigation is concluded, the district attorney’s office will be consulted regarding the potential filing of charges and the possibility of presenting the case to a grand jury for further proceedings.
