Teenager Faces First Degree Felony Charges for Shooting Father in Plano Home

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with a first-degree felony following an incident in which he allegedly shot his father in their Plano residence on Monday morning.

Local police responded to a call regarding a shooting at a home located in the 4500 block of Sandy Water Lane around 8:30 a.m. The father, who made the call, reported that his son had shot him.

Upon arrival, officers apprehended the teenager at the scene without any further complications. The father was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital, although details regarding his current condition have not been disclosed.

The adolescent has been transferred to the Collin County Juvenile Detention Center, facing a charge of aggravated assault (family violence) with a deadly weapon, classified as a first-degree felony.

According to police, the shooting is being treated as an isolated incident, and they have confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community. Investigators are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting and have not yet clarified whether any other family members were present in the home during the incident.
