Tragic Arlington Shooting: 14 Year Old Student Loses Life, Teen Charged with Manslaughter

A tragic incident unfolded on the night of February 20, 2026, in Arlington, Texas, where a 14-year-old student from Martin High School was fatally shot while reportedly handling a firearm with friends. The shooting occurred at a residence located in the 4600 block of Sausalito Drive.

According to the Arlington Police Department, officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 10:31 p.m. Upon arrival, they discovered the young boy unresponsive in a bedroom and he was pronounced dead at the location.

Family members have confirmed the identity of the victim as a student at Arlington Martin High School. Investigations revealed that the victim and several friends were in possession of a gun and were allegedly playing with it moments before the shooting took place.

In connection with the incident, a juvenile male who was present during the shooting has been arrested and charged with manslaughter. Due to his age, law enforcement has withheld his identity. He is currently being held at the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to provide an official cause of death as the investigation continues. Meanwhile, a small memorial featuring flowers and other tributes has been established outside the home where the tragedy occurred.

Authorities have stated that their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing.
