Three suspects are currently being sought after allegedly impersonating deputies to carry out a robbery at a residence in The Woodlands on Friday morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on South Plum Crest Circle, located near the intersection of Research Forest and Branch Crossing Drives. According to authorities, the male suspects presented themselves as deputies in order to coerce the occupants into compliance before forcibly entering the home.
Once inside, the suspects reportedly restrained the victims and proceeded to steal various valuable items. One victim managed to escape from the restraints and alerted neighbors, who then called 911 for assistance.
As a result of the robbery, one victim sustained injuries and was transported to a hospital, although she has since been released.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office reported that the suspects were dressed in black shirts adorned with white lettering spelling “Sheriff.” Additionally, two of the suspects were equipped with duty belts, and one was displaying a badge.
At this point, no suspects have been apprehended, and their identities remain unknown. There is currently no additional description of the suspects available.

How to Identify a Fake Officer
Montgomery County authorities have issued guidelines to help individuals discern between real and fake officers:
- Check if the individuals are wearing a uniform and/or driving a vehicle clearly marked by a law enforcement agency (for example, a vehicle with “Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office” displayed).
- Detectives who are in plain clothes and using unmarked vehicles should be able to provide their unit number, official credentials, and law enforcement identification upon request.
- If you feel uncertain about the authenticity of the officers, call 911, provide your location, and a dispatcher can confirm whether law enforcement is responding to your vicinity.
- Legitimate law enforcement personnel should be willing to share their badge number and/or unit number when asked.
These precautions are essential for ensuring public safety in light of this alarming incident.
