HOUSTON – As we welcome Friday, the sweltering heat remains a fixture in the Houston area. Residents can expect another day filled with high temperatures, although a cooler evening is on the horizon.
The forecast for today indicates mostly sunny skies and hot conditions, with temperatures soaring into the mid-90s. While humidity levels will be lower, those situated north of I-10 might see temperatures drop into the 60s tonight, offering a brief respite from the heat.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Saturday is predicted to be just as hot, with abundant sunshine. However, humidity is expected to rise significantly by Sunday, bringing with it a possibility of isolated showers in areas south of Houston.
In terms of tropical activity, the Atlantic remains remarkably calm this season. With only five named storms recorded and no hurricanes, the accumulated cyclone energy is currently about 94% below average, marking this as one of the quietest seasons on record.
