Located at 2821 Morton Street in Fort Worth, Dirdie Birdie has made a splash in the local dining scene, combining a lively mini-golf experience with an impressive menu. This new establishment takes over the former Bottled Blonde space and is the second outpost of the popular venue initially launched in Austin.
Dirdie Birdie features an indoor mini-golf course adorned with vibrant art and captivating visuals that truly come alive, especially in a fun atmosphere. The spacious dining area, complete with a patio and a wraparound bar, is perfect for everything from casual outings to bustling gatherings, with ample TV screens to catch the latest sports events. Guests can enjoy a round of golf before indulging in a variety of food and beverages.
The 12-hole course, while seemingly straightforward, challenges players’ skills and patience. Each hole boasts its own theme, including nods to the Stockyards, local jazz culture, and TCU’s Horned Frogs. Such creativity adds a unique flair to the golfing experience.
To ease the competitive spirit, a selection of cocktails crafted by renowned mixologist Travis Tober sets the stage for a delightful evening. One standout is the frozen margarita, infused with orange pekoe tea for a refreshing twist. Another highlight is the Strawnold Palmer, which features Giffard Fraise des Bois, a French strawberry liqueur that elevates the classic drink to new heights.
As guests navigate the whimsical decor, which includes a cave entrance designed like a panther’s mouth, they can indulge in a menu that, while reminiscent of a typical bar, strives for higher culinary standards. Although some dishes fell short, others shined brightly. The pigs in a blanket, for instance, brought joy with their flaky croissant-like exterior, although the accompanying chimichurri was overly oily.
The queso blanco, topped with elote for an added kick, initially arrived lukewarm but was promptly replaced with a steaming version that delivered on flavor. Meanwhile, the tuna tostadas, while beautifully presented, were overshadowed by a heavy avocado spread that masked the freshness of the fish.
The cocktail lineup continued to impress with a Paloma on the Green and a Mulligan Mule, each bringing a unique twist to classic cocktails. The menu also features a range of enticing options, including a prime Denver steak and 24-hour coffee-braised short rib, showcasing a commitment to quality.
The grilled salmon was a particular highlight, perfectly charred and complemented by a vibrant chimichurri. Served alongside cilantro lime rice and roasted curry tomatoes, it made for a well-rounded dish.
However, the real star of the show is the double smash Wagyu burger, an absolute must-try for anyone visiting. This burger features two juicy patties, gooey cheddar, griddled onions, and pickles, all nestled in a buttery brioche bun.
With its engaging atmosphere and a variety of activities, Dirdie Birdie offers a refreshing alternative to the usual nightlife options in West 7th. A round of mini-golf typically takes about 45 minutes, and reservations are recommended to ensure a spot in this exciting new venue.
