SH 146 Northbound Lane Closures for Road Work Scheduled January 9

The northbound lanes of State Highway 146 will be temporarily closed for road work from January 9 to January 12, as construction crews undertake essential maintenance. This effort involves moving concrete barriers and restriping the roadway, marking a significant step toward the implementation of a new traffic pattern designed to enhance road capacity and safety.

The closures will begin on Friday at 8 p.m. and will last until 5 a.m. on Monday. During this period, northbound traffic will be redirected off the freeway at Wharton Weems and will have the opportunity to re-enter after Spencer Highway. This detour is necessary to facilitate the work being done on the main lanes.

Additionally, several ramps will experience long-term closures as part of the reconstruction efforts. These include the northbound entrance ramp from Wharton Weems, the northbound entrance ramp from Fairmont, and the northbound exit ramp to Spencer Highway. To ensure the safety and efficiency of traffic flow, officers will be present throughout the weekend to assist and direct motorists.

This update comes from the City of La Porte, emphasizing the importance of community awareness regarding the upcoming road conditions.
