Austin Bare Cabaret Shooting: Two Men Charged with Capital Murder

Two men are in custody facing capital murder charges connected to a tragic double homicide that occurred in the parking lot of an Austin strip club. This incident took place on July 5 at Bare Cabaret, located in East Travis County.

According to court documents, the shooting is believed to be linked to gang activity. The Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO) received reports of gunfire at approximately 3:54 a.m., and upon arrival, deputies discovered two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, both victims succumbed to their injuries at the scene. They have been identified as 23-year-old VT Wood-Davion Olden Hornsby and 19-year-old Layla Williamson.

The investigation revealed that surveillance footage from a nearby adult store, XXX All Things Adult, captured the moments leading up to the shooting. The video shows three suspects approaching the victims before two of them brandished firearms and opened fire. The suspects then fled the scene in a black SUV.

As detectives continued their inquiry, they began receiving anonymous tips from the public, naming the shooters as James and Kevin, and hinting at a potential gang rivalry between the 4k and 5k gangs. The affidavit noted that the suspects were seen with several firearms, including “Draco” style rifles. Both James Shearrion and Kevin Parrish were recognized by the Austin Independent School District Police (AISD PD), who had prior knowledge of them due to previous criminal investigations, with both being former students.

Following the incident, detectives obtained additional surveillance footage from a nearby fireworks shop. This footage allegedly shows Shearrion running towards a black four-door Genesis car while armed, wearing the same outfit seen in social media posts from July 4. The video also captures Parrish entering the passenger seat of the vehicle, dressed in identical clothing.

Warrants for their arrests were issued, but both men voluntarily surrendered to authorities. Parrish was the first to turn himself in on Saturday, followed by Shearrion on Monday afternoon. Records indicate that Parrish has a history of legal issues in Travis County, including charges for unlawful weapon possession and evading arrest. At the time of the shooting, he was part of the Travis County Diversion Program, which offers offenders a chance to avoid prosecution by meeting specific court conditions.

Additionally, James Shearrion’s mother, Precious Shearrion, has been arrested on charges of hindering apprehension and tampering with evidence. She also turned herself in to the authorities on Monday afternoon.
