Bastrop County Man Sought for Arson: Set Ex's House on Fire Thrice, According to Sheriff

The search is ongoing for a man in Bastrop County, Texas, accused of setting his ex-girlfriend’s house ablaze on three separate occasions. Authorities have identified Abraham Salomon Chacon, who is currently wanted for Arson of a Habitation, a first-degree felony, and for charges related to animal cruelty following the tragic loss of a pit bull and her puppies in the initial fire.

According to the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office, the victim’s home has been declared a total loss. During the first fire incident, firefighters were unable to rescue Nala, the victim’s dog, along with her seven two-week-old puppies.

The victim, who prefers to remain anonymous, shared her story with local media. She revealed that she had previously dated Chacon for 13 years and had recently rekindled their relationship in June 2026. However, she noticed troubling changes in his behavior, prompting her to end the relationship for her safety. Following their breakup, Chacon began making threats, expressing intentions to burn down her home.

On October 14, the victim reported that Chacon had threatened her again and later that night broke into her home, assaulting her in front of her two young children. She managed to escape and call for help, but Chacon fled the scene before law enforcement could arrive.

Days later, while at work on October 17, she received alarming messages from Chacon claiming he had set fire to her bedroom. Just as she was about to contact 911, a neighbor called to inform her that smoke was visible from her home. Emergency services were able to contain the fire, which witnesses reported seeing Chacon entering and exiting before the flames erupted.

On October 18, at approximately 4:15 a.m., the sheriff’s office received reports of a second fire at the victim’s residence. She was informed by an officer while staying at a different location and rushed back to find her home completely destroyed.

In a subsequent incident on the same day, first responders discovered that Chacon had attempted to ignite a cabinet in the home, but he was not present when they arrived.

The victim expressed the profound impact of losing Nala, the dog she had gotten to provide her children with a sense of security after their father’s passing. She described the emotional toll of explaining the loss of their home to her children, especially considering it was a legacy left by their father.

With Chacon still at large, the victim is attempting to rebuild her life while grappling with ongoing fears for her safety. She conveyed a clear message to him: “I hope you get caught, and you pay for what you did.”

Authorities have indicated that Chacon was recently sighted in Austin, but he may also be in other locations, including San Antonio and Eagle Pass. His criminal history includes numerous arrests for serious offenses such as aggravated assault, robbery, and evading arrest, among others.

Anyone with information regarding Chacon’s whereabouts is encouraged to contact the Bastrop County Sheriff’s Office or Bluebonnet Crime Stoppers.
