The FBI’s Dallas division, in collaboration with local law enforcement, has announced significant outcomes from its recent initiative, ‘Summer Heat 2.0,’ which aimed to tackle violent crime in North Texas. The operation, conducted between June 1 and September 20, resulted in the arrest of 186 individuals and the identification or recovery of 49 child victims.
During the course of the operation, authorities seized 121 illegal firearms along with substantial amounts of narcotics, including 1.2 kilograms of fentanyl and 33 kilograms of cocaine. Furthermore, North Texas law enforcement officials achieved 71 convictions and secured 169 indictments against suspects involved in violent crimes.
On a national scale, ‘Summer Heat 2.0’ proved to be impactful, yielding nearly 9,000 arrests across the country, the recovery of over 5,000 illegally possessed weapons, and the seizure of more than 27,000 kilograms of cocaine and 687 kilograms of fentanyl, which is enough to produce 52 million lethal doses. Additionally, 1,410 child victims were identified or located nationwide.
This initiative, which originated in the summer of 2025, underscores the FBI’s commitment to reducing violent crime through strategic partnerships with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. R. Joseph Rothrock, the Special Agent in Charge of FBI Dallas, emphasized that these collaborations are essential for enhancing community safety. “Fighting crime is a responsibility we all share,” he stated, reaffirming the FBI’s dedication to working alongside its partners to create safer environments for all.
