A tragic incident occurred on SH-146, where a man was fatally struck by a patrol vehicle operated by an on-duty officer from the Baytown Police Department. The victim has been identified by his family as 27-year-old Gary Lane Graber. The circumstances surrounding the crash are currently under investigation.
According to reports, the collision took place around 1:30 a.m. on a Sunday morning on State Highway 146 North, near Port Road. It is stated that Graber was on foot in the main lanes of the highway when the marked police vehicle struck him.
Family members disclosed that Graber had encountered mechanical issues with his Chevrolet Suburban, specifically a significant oil leak, which led him to stop on the highway. Fortunately, the officer involved in the incident did not sustain any injuries.
The scene was examined by officials from both the Harris County District Attorney’s Office and Harris County Precinct 8 as part of the ongoing investigation into the accident.
