A lightning strike ignited a house fire in northeast Harris County on Saturday, prompting a swift response from fire crews.
The incident occurred at a residence on Slate Mountain Lane, situated near West Lake Houston and Deussen Parkways. At the time of the fire, storms were sweeping through the Houston area, leading officials to believe that the lightning was the cause.
According to a senior captain from the Houston Fire Department, firefighters initially adopted a defensive strategy as the flames had completely engulfed the second floor of the home. Fortunately, the blaze was brought under control without any injuries or fatalities reported.
Details regarding the extent of the damage to the property remain unclear as investigations continue.
