In his forthcoming memoir titled “Where We Keep the Light,” Pennsylvania’s Democratic Governor Josh Shapiro reveals a significant moment from the vetting process when he was considered as a potential running mate for Kamala Harris. He recounts being asked whether he had ever served as an agent for the Israeli government, a question he found particularly offensive as it implied doubts about his loyalty to the United States.
In an interview with Norah O’Donnell, Shapiro expressed his lingering uncertainty about whether Harris was aware of the inquiry he faced. He ultimately decided to withdraw his name from consideration for the vice presidential role. A more in-depth discussion with Governor Shapiro will air on “CBS Sunday Morning” on January 25.
