A significant three-alarm fire devastated a Pilates studio nestled within a historic Victorian-style building in Uptown Dallas early Wednesday morning. The incident occurred at Pilates Methodology, located at 2615 Routh St., prompting a swift response from Dallas Fire-Rescue officials.
Emergency services were alerted at 4:01 a.m. when a 911 caller reported heavy smoke emanating from the second floor. Upon arrival, first responders encountered intense smoke streaming from the two-story structure. Firefighters initially attempted to tackle the flames from inside, but the fire quickly escalated, leading commanders to issue a second alarm at 4:28 a.m., followed by a third alarm at 4:54 a.m. to bolster their resources.
As the fire grew more aggressive, it broke through the roof of the building. Firefighters altered their strategy to contain the blaze while also protecting a nearby home, successfully preventing any damage to it. The fire was brought under control and extinguished by 5:59 a.m.
While on-site personnel observed that the studio was undergoing renovations at the time of the fire, investigators have not yet confirmed whether these construction activities played a role in the incident. Fortunately, the building was unoccupied when the flames erupted, and there were no reported injuries among civilians or firefighters.
The investigation into the precise cause of the fire is ongoing.
