Police in Mesquite have apprehended a suspect linked to a recent homicide that occurred on Rodeo Center Boulevard.
On February 4, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 300 block of Rodeo Center Boulevard. Upon arrival, they discovered a 38-year-old man lying in the parking lot of a nearby business, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders provided immediate medical assistance and transported the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.
Following the incident, investigators were able to identify a vehicle associated with the suspect. A traffic stop led to the arrest of 35-year-old Brian Maldonado, who was initially charged with a traffic violation. Subsequent inquiries resulted in a murder charge being filed against him.
At this time, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and the police have indicated that the investigation is ongoing.
