Axiom Space has officially announced its decision to redomicile in Texas, aligning its legal headquarters with its operational base in Houston. This strategic move positions the company within a state recognized for its robust aerospace workforce, which exceeds 150,000 professionals.
Governor Greg Abbott expressed his enthusiasm for Axiom Space’s commitment to Texas, stating, “Texas has been the launchpad of spaceflight since its inception. We welcome Axiom Space’s decision to make Texas its legal residence and look forward to the progress they will achieve in our state. Those who reach for the stars do so from the great state of Texas.”
Dr. Jonathan Cirtain, CEO and President of Axiom Space, emphasized Texas’s supportive environment for innovative enterprises. He remarked, “Texas has demonstrated, consistently and deliberately, that it wants innovative companies to thrive here, and has built the policy and regulatory framework to back that up. For Axiom Space, establishing Texas as both our operational and legal home puts us squarely in a state that understands our mission, supports our industry, and shares in what we are working to achieve.”
Axiom’s announcement highlighted that Texas is “actively transforming into the nerve center of the new space economy.” To further support this transformation, the state established the Space Exploration and Aeronautics Research Fund in 2023, which allocated $150 million in grants for research, infrastructure, and technology development. An additional $300 million was added in 2025.
As part of this initiative, Axiom Space received a $5.5 million grant aimed at advancing its orbital computing capabilities, illustrating the state’s commitment to fostering growth in the aerospace sector.
