A tragic incident unfolded in Arlington on Saturday night, resulting in the death of a 47-year-old motorcyclist following a collision with an 18-wheeler. The police confirmed that the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The accident occurred around 9:13 p.m. in the 3900 block of Avenue E East. According to the Arlington Police Department, the truck driver was attempting to make a left turn from a parking lot onto Avenue E when the motorcycle, traveling eastbound and navigating a curve, collided with the side of the tractor-trailer.
The force of the impact caused both the motorcyclist and a female passenger to be thrown from the motorcycle. Emergency responders pronounced the rider dead at the scene. Fortunately, the female passenger sustained injuries deemed non-life-threatening and opted not to be transported to a hospital.
The truck driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the ongoing investigation. Currently, no criminal charges have been filed in connection with this incident, which is still under review by authorities.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to release the identity of the deceased motorcyclist after notifying the next of kin.
