Authorities in East Texas have successfully recaptured a handcuffed suspect who escaped police custody early Tuesday morning near Wills Point. The swift recovery was aided by tips from the community.
The incident unfolded at approximately 4 a.m. when the suspect managed to flee in the vicinity of Van Zandt County Road 3901, also referred to as Deen Road. At the time of his escape, the suspect, a Hispanic male standing around 5-foot-5, was dressed in a navy blue shirt or hoodie paired with blue jeans. He was handcuffed in front and was believed to be unarmed.
Following the escape, the Wills Point police received a crucial tip from a local resident regarding the suspect’s whereabouts. Acting on this information, officers quickly moved to the specified location, where they successfully located and apprehended the individual without any further complications.
The Wills Point Police Department expressed gratitude to the city marshal, various assisting agencies, and all personnel involved in the search and apprehension process.
