Denton authorities are actively investigating a serious multi-vehicle collision that occurred on Halloween night, resulting in ten individuals being hospitalized, two of whom are in critical condition.
The incident took place on October 31 around 7:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of W. University Drive, near the Parker House Haunted Attraction. Initial reports indicate that the crash was triggered when a vehicle attempting to turn into the haunted house was rear-ended by another car. This impact caused the first vehicle to be pushed into oncoming traffic, where it was subsequently struck by a semi-truck.
Emergency responders worked diligently at the scene, and the westbound lanes of Highway 380 were closed for several hours. Fortunately, investigators have ruled out alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash, and inquiries into the incident are ongoing.
As of now, the conditions of those hospitalized remain unclear. Denton Police have stated that they will continue to gather information related to the incident.
Local resident Maria Salas, who lives near the crash site, recounted that she was asleep when the collision occurred and described the sound as the loudest she has ever heard. Salas expressed her concern for traffic management in the area, noting the disturbing screams that followed the crash led her to believe that fatalities may have occurred.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
