The Paramount Theatre will host the annual “Hi, How Are You?” concert this Friday, an event dedicated to celebrating the legacy of artist Daniel Johnston while promoting mental health awareness. Given the forecast of chilly weather, staying cozy indoors might be tempting this weekend.

Nathaniel Rateliff will headline this benefit concert honoring the memory of musician and visual artist Daniel Johnston, who passed away in 2019. This eighth annual event aims to foster mental health awareness and encourage open discussions about emotional well-being. Proceeds will support mental wellness education initiatives.
While the more affordable tickets have sold out, an afterparty concert featuring Lamont Landers and Donovan Keith will take place at the Continental Club for $26, with proceeds also benefiting the Hi, How Are You Project. Doors for the afterparty open at 9 p.m.
Additionally, a benefit concert featuring Caroline Hale and Witches Exist will take place Thursday at the 29th Street Ballroom, with tickets available for $20.
‘Witness,’ The Long Center

Austin photojournalist Tamir Kalifa, known for documenting significant tragedies throughout his career—including the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey and mass shootings—will present a multimedia performance titled “Witness.” This event coincides with the release of his album, which combines photography and music to illuminate the human stories behind these events.

FronteraFest, Short Fringe, Hyde Park Theatre

When: Tuesdays-Saturdays through Feb. 14, 8-10 p.m.
Where: Hyde Park Theatre, 511 West 43rd St.
FronteraFest features five performers each night, with each act allotted 25 minutes. Saturdays will showcase a “Best of the Week” performance. The artistic director of Hyde Park Theatre, Ken Webster, describes the festival as an “arts incubator,” where artists can explore their creativity on stage.
Signaling Light, Women and Their Work

This solo exhibit by Jessica Mallios, based in San Marcos, explores the lives of female lighthouse keepers in the United States. “Signaling Light” features a collection of photographs, drawings, and videos created over five years at various lighthouse sites across the country.
