An investigation has been initiated by federal authorities following the discovery of missing mail featured in a viral Instagram video. An Oak Cliff resident, Jessica Amador, contacted local media after recognizing her undelivered mail among the stacks shown in the video.
The video, which has circulated widely on social media, depicts numerous boxes of mail inside a private residence. The individual who recorded the footage expressed frustration towards the person in possession of the mail, prompting the video’s release to gain public attention.
After spotting her address on some of the items in the video, Amador reached out to Dallas police for assistance, who directed her to the United States Postal Service (USPS). However, her inquiries at the local postal office yielded no substantial answers, leading her to seek help from local news outlets.
Amador is anxious not only to retrieve her missing mail but also to understand how such a situation could occur. “Am I going to get my mail back? I just want to know,” she expressed. “It’s mine. It was never delivered to me. I need clarity on this.” She emphasized the importance of accountability, especially since her father’s mail is involved. “We don’t know what’s in there. He wants to know if there are checks or tax documents. What belongs to us needs to be returned,” she added.
The USPS Office of Inspector General has confirmed that it is actively investigating the claims made by Amador. In a statement, they underscored that such alleged misconduct is not acceptable within the postal service, asserting that the majority of its employees are dedicated and trustworthy individuals. They also emphasized the commitment to thoroughly investigate any allegations against postal workers.
Individuals with information regarding missing mail are encouraged to report their concerns to the USPS Office of Inspector General through their hotline.
